Guest Lecture on “Signals and Systems”
Last updated: Dec 02,2023
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering recently hosted a guest lecture on “Signals and Systems” on December 1st & 2nd, 2023. The featured speaker was Mr. V. Satheeswaran, an Assistant Professor (SG) from Nehru Institute of Technology. During his lecture, Mr. Satheeswaran emphasized the importance of learning the basic mathematical framework of signals and systems in order to efficiently deal with various tasks. The lecture covered topics such as the properties of signals and systems, characterization of Linear Time Invariant Systems/ Time variant systems, convolution and Fourier Series and Transform, as well as the Sampling theorem, Z-Transform, Correlation and Laplace transform. The concepts introduced in the lecture will be useful for students in understanding further Electronic/ Electrical Engineering courses such as control systems, communication systems, digital signal processing, statistical signal analysis and digital message transmission. The lecture also introduced the concepts of signal sampling and aliasing, which were exemplified with processing of signals in MATLAB. The students who attended the guest lecture gained valuable insights into the importance of signals and systems.
