Manufacturing technology lab enhances students to study and practice the various machining operations that can be performed in lathe, shaping, drilling, milling, grinding etc., and equip students with the practical knowledge required in the manufacturing/production companies. This lab helps students to study and practice the basic machining operations in the special purpose machines and acquire its applicability in the real time components manufacturing industries.

Thermal Engineering Laboratory

Thermal Engineering Laboratory is well equipped and provides practical knowledge on the different types of I.C. Engines. In this laboratory, students will have the opportunity to study the working principle of IC engines, performance and characteristics in terms of heat balancing, economical speed variations, air-fuel ratio influence on the engine to reinforce classroom theory by having the student perform required tests, analyze subsequent data, and present the results in a professionally prepared report. This lab also refers to impart practical knowledge on heat transfer, mass transfer, refrigeration and air conditioning in engineering systems. Through this lab, students will get practical exposure and methods to bring solutions to practical and industrial problems.

CAD Laboratory

The CAD/CAM laboratory provides the computer knowledge on design and the skills on designing software. The students can draft the model in both 2D and 3D objects and analysis of the parts can be carried out. The software like AUTOCAD, CREO 2.0, SOLIDWORKS, MATLAB, ANSYS are available for the students to practice on it. The objective of the lab is to develop the designs of various mechanical components using 2D and 3D Software. This lab is available to graduate the students in the fields of Computer Aided Design and Computer Aided Manufacturing. The basic knowledge can be used for successful accomplishment of project works. The students can make use of advanced modules in the design software for their research work. For the design part student generates NC program with different CAM software packages. Students simulate the program for validation. Also the CNC machines available in the laboratory can be utilized for advanced manufacturing research.

Metrology and Measurements Laboratory

Metrology and Measurements Laboratory is well equipped and provides ideas on hands on experience with various measuring instruments to utilize in industries on evaluating mechanical properties of a given specimen or structure. This laboratory is scheduled for 5th semester Mechanical engineering students. Apart from curriculum, some additional experimental setups are there which helps the students to enhance their knowledge. Students also get opportunity to implement their ideas through various application oriented micro projects. Metrology the science of measurement helps manufacturers to attain the proper fit and finish for their products. It embraces both experimental and theoretical measurements and determinations at any level of uncertainty in any field of science and technology. Metrology Lab plays a crucial role for a student who wants to pursue his career in industrial engineering and shop floor control. Metrology lab list of experiments are chosen in such a way to familiarize our students in various kinds of measuring tools/instruments, measuring techniques, measurement methods and calibration procedures. The students learn the measurement procedure in basic measuring instruments such as thread micrometer, gear tooth verniers, dial gauge and centre distance gauge other than normal micrometer and verniers caliper used in shop floor. The calibration exercise makes them to find the standard error involved in the measuring instrument using set of slip gauges.

The laboratory is equipped with spring mass vibration system under damped and undamped condition. Static and dynamics vibration analysis equipments, the vibration setup is equipped with vibration Exciter, vibrations meters, displacement and acceleration. Static and dynamic balancing machine for the rotating masses, journal bearing apparatus, dynamic balancing apparatus to determine the natural and actual frequency of various spring using spring mass apparatus. To determine the deflection and frequency of simple support beam setup, cantilever beam setup, determine the critical speed of the shaft using whirling speed apparatus. The laboratory is equipped with cam and follower setup, universal governor setup with speed controller box (Watt, porter, proell and spring controlled governors), determine the sleeve displacement, power, effort and sensitivity of the governor. The laboratory is also equipped with motorized gyroscope apparatus, various mechanism models and various gears models.

Mechatronics Laboratory

Mechatronics Laboratory provides state of the art facilities and experimental setups to learn and enjoy the field of mechatronics. The objective of this lab is to provide skills and knowledge to design, construction and analysis of mechatronic systems. Modern society and industries depends on mechatronic based systems such as Hydraulic, Pneumatic, PLC and other Electrical and Electronics systems. The Mechatronics laboratory experimental setups to learn about Stepper motor interface, Traffic light interface, Speed control of DC motor, Microcontroller, Microprocessor, Transducers, PLC & its applications, Design & Simulation of Hydraulic, Pneumatic & Electro-pneumatic circuit and Image processing techniques. Upon completion of this course, the students can design mechatronics system with the help of Microprocessor, PLC and other electrical and Electronics circuits.

Engineering Practices Laboratory

Workshop practises have become important in the industrial environment to produce products for the service of mankind. The knowledge of manufacturing practices is highly essential for all engineers and technocrats for familiarizing themselves with modern concepts of manufacturing technologies. Workshop practices gives the basic working knowledge required for the production of various engineering products. It explains the construction, function, use and application of different working tools, equipment, machines, as well as the technique of manufacturing a product from its raw material. Considering the general needs of engineering students in the country and the fact that they hardly get any exposure to hand tools, equipment’s, machines and manufacturing setups, a basic course in manufacturing science remains a core subject for all the branches of engineering. The contents include exposure to bench work and fitting, smithy and forging, sheet metal work, wood and wood working, casting, welding and machine shop practices. Manufacturing processes are used for converting raw materials into finished products.
