National Service Scheme (NSS)




National Service Scheme popularly known as NSS, the scheme was launched in Mahatma Gandhi Centenary year 1969 and aimed at developing the personality and character of the student youth through voluntary community service. ‘Education through Service’ is the purpose of the NSS. The ideological orientation of the NSS is inspired by the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi. This objective is attained through the service to the community.

Objectives

The overall objective of NSS is Personality Development through community service.

The broad objectives of NSS are to:

  • Understand the community in which they work
  • Understand themselves in relation to their community
  • Identify the needs and problems of the community and involve them in problem solving process.
  • Develop among themselves a sense of social and civic responsibility
  • Utilize their knowledge in finding practical solution to individual and community problems
  • Develop competence required for group-living and sharing of responsibilities
  • Gain skills in mobilizing community participation
  • Acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitude
  • Develop capacity to meet emergencies and natural disaster and
  • Practice national integration and social harmony
Motto

The motto or watchword of the NSS is “Not me but you”. It underlines that the welfare of an individual is ultimately dependent on the welfare of society on the whole. This express the essence of democratic living and upholds the need of selfless service and appreciation of the other man’s point of view and also consideration for fellow human beings.

Youth Red Cross (YRC)




The famous quote said by Jean Henry Dunant “By Thy power, let there be peace, O God!” after witnessing the battle Solferino, lead to the formation of Red Cross Society. Every tree grows from a small seed likewise the Red Cross society grown like a tree in stages. Initially an International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) was formed to serve throughout the world to protect and assist victims of armed conflicts and strife.

FIT INDIA MOVEMENT LIVE TELECAST & FITNESS PLEDGE

Hon’ble Prime Minister of India has launched the FIT INDIA MOVEMENT on 29 Aug 2019 with a view to make Physical Fitness a way of life. FIT INDIA MOVEMENT aims at behavioral changes – from sedentary lifestyle to physically active way of day-to-day living. Fit India would be a success only when it becomes a people’s movement. We have to play the role of a catalyst.

In the above background, the Fit India Mission encourages YOUTH CLUB to motivate people to become part of FIT INDIA MOVEMENT by inculcating at least 45-60 minutes of physical activities in their day to day lives, individuals and Youth Club can undertake various efforts for their own health and well-being as well as for the health and well-being of fellow Indians.

Clean Campus

13 th November 2019, the NSS and YRC volunteer have done campus cleaning from 9.00 to 12.30 pm. They have cleaned the main building area, play ground, library building area, parking area etc. In this activity 50 volunteers actively participated.

One Student One Tree

In order to make awareness on students under the NSS/YRC activities, our volunteers created awareness on green campus. In view of the motto “one student one tree” twenty five saplings were planted by the college principal and other heads of various departments too joyously and enthusiastically participated in both rallies and as well in the activity of sapling trees.

Tree Plantation under Green Campus

On 5th November, 2019, our NSS/YRC volunteers successfully completed the event of Tree Plantation under green campus event at college campus. Trees are the foremost source for producing the oxygen in environment, they helps to reduce the level of carbon dioxide.As we all know that the whole world is facing the problem of global warming and to recover from such problem planting the trees is become one of the most important aspects today. A very first tree planted by Dr.P.Venugopal, Principal. A total tree planted by all others including teachers, volunteers and guest was more than 25 on the day.

As per AICTE advisory regarding the Novel Corona virus (COVID-19) all the institutions/colleges, hand hygiene and Respiratory hygiene precaution techniques were demonstrated to all students to help in prevention / reduction of the transmission of the virus.



Fit India Smart Walk

Under Fit India movement, fitness smart walk was organized by our NSS and YRC cell on 18th December 2020. Our Principal Dr.P.Venugopal inaugurates the event on 18 th December 2020. Fitness pledge was taken by volunteers and our faculty members at the beginning of the event.Totally 5 kilometers covered by our volunteers and our faculty members at the end of the event within college campus.



Fit India Cyclothon

Under Fit India movement, fitness smart walk was organized by our NSS and YRC cell from 28th to 31st December 2020. Our Principal Dr.P.Venugopal inaugurates the event on 18 th December 2020. Everyday 10 kilometers covered by our volunteers and our faculty members. Totally 50 kilometers covered at the end of the event.
